Celtic set to buy West Ham youngster, according to reports

Celtic could be set to raid the English Premier League once more this summer under Ange Postecoglou, with reports suggesting that advanced talks are underway for West Ham youngster Justin Osagie.

Joe Hart, Cameron Carter-Vickers, James McCarthy and Bosun Lawal were all signed from England’s top-flight last summer in what was a huge rebuild under the lovable Aussie – with Hart and CCV being key components in the title win over the course of the campaign.

Liam Shaw, Osaze Urhoghide, Joey Dawson and Matt O’Riley were all signed from below the border as well, although only O’Riley has been classed as a first-team player from that quartet.

It is clear that Ange likes bringing in top young talents from down south, with more set to be registered throughout his tenure.

And according to the BBC, that could happen once again with the signing of Osagie. Fraser Fletcher, who is a journalist for BBC Scotland, states that advanced talks are in motion for the 17-year-old, whilst pictures have surfaced of the star holding up a shirt with the number 45 on the hallowed turf at Paradise.

He joined West Ham in 2020 from Southend United, who had undergone financial hardship following their relegation to the National League.

Arsenal and Tottenham were interested in his services, although a deal taking him to the London Stadium was the one that came to fruition.

Whilst Osagie is not expected to become a first-team signing, he would link up with Celtic’s B team – playing in the Lowland League that has served the ‘Colts’ team well in recent years.

With an emphasis on youth and cheap signings being a cornerstone of Ange’s tenure, it is no surprise to see the club attracting top talents once again.
