Tonight will see the pre-season preparations officially kick off as Brendan Rodgers takes his side a trip doon the coast to take on Ayr United.
The Honest Men are of course now managed by Celtic legend Scott Brown, and knowing Broony, he will have his team well fired up for this one so you can be assured our players will get a firm work out!
Brendan will be looking forward to getting back into the action, while also relishing taking on his trusted former lieutenant Broony. Whilst Broony himself will be relishing pitting his wits against the man who improved him as a player at such a late stage in his career.
I’m sure after the game they will both enjoy a beer or two and reminisce about old times while also looking to the future, maybe there will be some discussion about Broony taking a few of our best Celtic B team stars on loan for a season to help him in his ambition of getting Ayr back to the top flight of Scottish football for the first time since 1978.
After tonight’s game it will be a game against our Glasgow rivals Queen’s Park before a trip across the Atlantic to fulfil three games in the United States where we will play DC United, Man City and Chelsea.
The pre-season officially starts now, with the real action just a short few weeks away.
