Photo: Celtic legend makes Paradise appearance for win over Hibs

Celtic legend Lubo Moravcik was in attendance as Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Hibs 3-1. The ex-maverick midfielder watched on as goals from Daizen Maeda and a strike from Nicolas Kuhn secured passage to the next round.

Signed by Dr. Jo Vengolos for £300k aged 33, arguably in the twilight of his career, Moravcik would go onto make a major impact at Celtic Park. In his first game, Moravcik dispelled any doubts about his abilities scoring twice in a memorable 5-1 victory over Rangers.

The talented midfielder, often dubbed ‘The Gift from God’, would go onto 130 appearances for Celtic, scoring 35 goals. Lubo would win 2 SPL Titles, 2 League Cups and 1 Scottish Cup in his four-year spell at the club.

  1. Those of us who actually saw Lubo play in the Hoops, were truly blessed! One of the most gifted players I ever saw in a Celtic jersey, and I’ve seen so many in my 72 years!
So many stand out for a variety of reasons, for their own reasons! They had their individuality, and they were part of Scotland’s only really big club.
The list of these geniuses is long for sure, but Lubo is high up there!

    • What a player! Even he didn’t know which foot was his natural.
His signature move of back to goal on edge of 18 yard box, drag the defender behind you one way then turn the other and send a thunderbolt into the back of the net.
He knew what he was going to do, fans knew what he was going to do, opponents knew what he was going to do but there was no way to stop it.
Opponents would’ve been slerp deprived for a week thinking about having to stop him and the king of kings.
