According to  Daily Record, former Celtic defender Mark Wilson, who is now Thistle’s permanant manager, is keen to bring the highly rated youngster in for the 2025/26 campaign.

The 19 year-old has already had first team involvement this summer with the Hoops in pre-season, playing against Sporting Lisbon in the Algarve last week.

Ure remained on the bench for Saturday’s clash with English Premier League side Newcastle United at Celtic Park, but it is understood Rodgers and Celtic are keen for him to secure regular senior football courtesy of a loan move.

Primarily a defensive midfielder with the versatility to play in forward areas if required, Ure has featured 70 times for Celtic B across all competitions and played 13 matches in the club’s UEFA Youth League squad.

The youngster has netted six goals and provided two assists, establishing himself as an influential figure in Stephen McManus’ B team midfield. Now attracting interest from Championship clubs, it may be best for all parties that he plays regularly for a season in a competitive environment.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s Jude Bonnar opened his account for Scott Brown’s Ayr United on Saturday with a stunning strike.

Having made his senior Hoops debut in last season’s 5-1 victory over Aberdeen at Celtic Park, Bonnar signed for Ayr on loan and immediately impressed during a 4-0 win over Arbroath in the Premier Sports Cup group stages.

Just eight minutes after coming on, Bonnar received the ball just outside the 18-yard box, dribbled past a defender, and curled a perfect strike into the top-right hand corner.

Speaking post-match to Ayr United on X, Bonnar insists he was delighted with his start to life at Somerset Park: “Right from when I came in, all the boys and the staff have welcomed me very well,” he said.

“When I heard I had the opportunity to come here, I agreed straight away. It’s good to be here, getting professional games under my belt.”

“My goal, I just dropped to the edge of the box, seen I had a lot of space, got the ball off Marco [Rus], worked my way through and just got my shot off.”
