Farewell Liel. Thanks for the memories and your heartfelt words, not what some were hoping for eh?

Liel Abada’s £10 million move to MLS side Charlotte FC was finally confirmed yesterday evening and officially ends the Israelis two and half year stint in the Hoops.

We all know the circumstances behind Liel’s departure, but he’s only doing what he thinks is best for himself and his family, so you’ve got to respect his wishes.

Also it was good to see that he gave a heartfelt goodbye as he thanked everyone at the club including the Celtic supporters for their help and support.

So much for the false narrative being spread in the media in both Scotland and also in Israel where their hacks and pundits pushed their Scottish counterparts hard in seeing who could be the most anti-Celtic in their output.

As hard as it is for us to see a talent like Liel leave, it must be as painful for those who seen their false propaganda go up in smoke. Not the headlines they were waiting on eh?

Like the overwhelming majority of the Celtic support, I appreciate his contributions to our success and wish him all the best in his career going forward.

In his two and a half years at the club Liel contributed significantly to our success. No one will ever forget his last minute goal against Dundee United in late January 2022. Or his goal against theRangers in the 3-0 rout a few days later.

He also grabbed a brace in the 4-0 thumping of theRangers back in September 2022. In total liel made 107 appearances for the club scoring a total of 29 goals, winning five honours. On a personal front he was named PFA Scotland young player of the year in 2022.

Liel leaving is a sore one in the eyes of the supporters. His move feels all a bit premature as he still had a lot more potential to fulfil, but sadly it won’t be with us. But we all wish him nothing but good wishes in the next chapter of his career.

All the best Liel, and thanks for the memories. You will always be welcome at Celtic football club.
