Aberdeen have confirmed that Celtic legend Scott Brown has been appointed as their new captain for the upcoming season. The 36-year-old left Paradise at the end of last season and he has been confirmed as the new skipper for the Dons, replacing Joe Lewis.
After 22 trophies with Celtic, Brown left Celtic to reunite with his former Hibernian teammate Stephen Glass at Aberdeen. The deal offers him some security as it is a two-year deal that encapsulates both playing and coaching. You would not rule out seeing the player return to Celtic in a managerial capacity at some point in the next few years. Brown’s leadership credentials made him the outstanding candidate as a captain for the upcoming season.
It will be a totally bizarre experience seeing Brown pulling on another kit but he made a decision to prolong his playing career whilst Celtic opted to undergo an overhaul of the footballing department. Brown will always be a Celtic legend but he will be doing all that he can to be a success in his new role.
