Young Celtic full back Adam Montgomery could be in line for a loan move away from Parkhead during this January transfer window.
According to a report by Football Scotland, Ange Postecoglou would like the youngster to enjoy regular game time with a temporary move away from the club. There are no interested parties listed, but should an appropriate club emerge then Montgomery could further his development elsewhere in Scotland for the remainder of this season.
The Celtic academy graduate recently signed a new deal tying him to the club until 2025, whilst he has made 18 appearances in a hooped shirt, some of which came against respectable European opposition such as AZ Alkmaar. However, with more strength in depth at the club, there is a lot of competition for places in the left back position. Indeed, Greg Taylor has returned to fitness, Liam Scales continues to push for a first team place and Reo Hatate is now also available. Meanwhile, the ongoing impressive form of Anthony Ralston has often forced Josip Juranovic to switch flanks.
Any loan move that materialises would not be made permanent. The plan would be for Montgomery to return to Celtic Park and challenge for a first team spot at the Hoops next term.
