This morning we woke up to the fantastic news that Canada had beaten Venezuela in a penalty shoot out to set up a Copa America semi final clash with World Champions Argentina.

Our very own Alistair Johnston of course played his part in Canada’s historical moment in the tournament which is being held in the United States.

The full back is as important to Jesse Marsch’s side as he is to our own, and his battling performances have helped earn the Canadians a historic place in the semi finals of the competition.

Next up is Leo Messi and the favourites Argentina for a place in the final, and despite already losing to the World Champions in the group stage, the Canadians still have a decent chance of making the final.

It will be tough that’s not in question, but the Canadians unlike our own nation have shown true spirt and determination throughout the tournament, and victory is not impossible.

The game will take place in the wee small hours of Wednesday morning, let’s hope AJ and his mates can overcome the talented Argentines and book a place in the final.
