Odsonne Edouard completed his move to Crystal Palace this evening, ironically it was on the fourth anniversary of his signing from PSG. The 23-year-old took to Instagram to share his thoughts after the deal was confirmed late tonight.

It was inevitable that the Frenchman would depart in this transfer window given that he had less than a year remaining on his deal. Celtic will hopefully net in the region of £20m given the add-ons attached to the deal which has an initial payment of £15m. Edouard departs having scored 87 times and assisted 39 times for the club since arriving in a £9m deal back in 2017.

Initially signed on a season-long loan, Edouard went from Celtic’s third choice behind Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths to a mainstay in the starting XI. He scored a brace as Celtic beat Rangers 5-0 to win 7IAR and conjured up some incredible moments during his time in the Hoops.

A parting of the ways seemed inevitable as Edouard chased his next move. 9 trophies and countless personal accolades later, Odsonne Edouard arrived at Celtic as a misfiring youngster and leaves as a Premier League striker, who will earn around £70k. The progress of French Eddy will act as a testament to the club’s ability to attract young talents that have maybe struggled to hit their heights and get them back on track before eventually moving them on.

Best of luck, French Eddy.
