Amy Gallacher signs three year contract extension at Celtic

Amy G is here to stay! Our forward has our pen to paper on a new deal through to 2027…

Since joining Celtic FC Women from Hibernian in 2022, the Scotland international has been a mainstay in the squad. This season alone, she has recorded 46 goal contributions in 32 appearances, showing the impact that she has on the side.

She tops the SWPL scoring charts with 22 league goals, also taking first place for assists with 18. This season, she also received a well-deserved call-up to the Scotland international squad, making her debut against England in September. It’s certainly been a season to remember for the Dundee-born Celt. And what better way to reward a fantastic campaign so far than with a contract extension?

This is one that the fans will be buzzing about, myself included. Keeping a player with the ability of Gallacher will certainly be handy, especially if Tash Flint were to return to England in the summer. We may not see her feature in the squad this weekend though, or at least not in the starting line-up, as she had to come off at half-time in our 1-0 victory against Hibs on Wednesday.

Amy Gallacher Injury Update: “it’s like a dead leg but on her gluteus maximus”

It’s like a dead leg but on her gluteus maximus!

The Celtic Star Editor earlier today asked Elena Sadiku about the midweek injury Amy picked up against Hibs  and the manager revealed that the situation wasn’t too bad, saying: “Amy is, I think, pretty well. She’s had like, I don’t know how to say this, but it’s like a dead leg but on her gluteus maximus. So, it’s going to take some time for her to get back into where she is but it’s not a big injury, just something we have to wait out.”

Gallacher spoke to Celtic’s own media after signing her contract extension. She said: “I’m very happy to have signed a new three-year deal. I’m really enjoying my football at the moment. So, I’m just delighted to have extended my stay and I’m looking forward to the future.

“I’ve loved my past couple of years here. So, it was an easy decision to stay. I’m really loving playing under Elena [Sadiku] as well. So, I’m looking forward to what is ahead now. She is a great young manager. You can see her passion, she has got big ambitions and a great vision for the club. So it’s exciting.

“I love scoring and creating goals. That is something that I want to continue doing over the next few years.”

Great news for a Friday as we eagerly await Sunday’s return to Paradise. Tickets for the game are still available and we urge you to come and support the Ghirls in what will be an important battle for three points.
