THE MAYOR OF MANCHESTER, Andy Burnham, has revealed his Celtic connection in a conversation of Twitter. Former Labour Minister has been in the media a lot recently as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and his principled, pragmatic stance against the Government shutting businesses down without proper funding in place to make sure that many don’t go into poverty.
Burham was in a social media discussion about the fact that he looked like ‘a football casual that made it’ when someone suggested that he had an Everton/Celtic bobble hat – which he did.
The Aintree-born Labour politician revealed that he did in fact own a hat bearing the colours of his team – Everton and Celtic. But he decided to give it to his favourite player
Miraculously, another Twitter user managed to find the photo of the Bobble hat in possession of Van Den Hauwe – a pivotal player in the Everton side that won the league championship that year.
Burnham was born in Liverpool and was a blue but owing to his Catholic upbringing he had a soft spot for the Glasgow side, meaning he was a Celtic man.
