Ange Postecoglou has opened up on the supportive relationship that he has with former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers. The Irishman was pictured with Willie Haughey in hospitality at Hampden as Jota’s goal sent the Celts to The Scottish Cup Final.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Ange was asked about whether he had the opportunity to catch up with Rodgers at The National Stadium.
“I didn’t catch up with Brendan on Sunday, but he has sent me countless messages from the moment I was appointed.
“He did send me a message that he would be at the game and wish me all the best. He has been great and supportive of all we have done.
“He has been in this position and knows how special it is at this football club to have success and how hard you have to work to get it.
“It was great to see him there and I’m sure I’ll catch up with him at some point.”
Postecoglou will take his side back to Hampden for the game on the June 3rd where the Australian will look to join Rodgers in the ranks of Celtic managers that have won the Treble along with Jock Stein, Martin O’Neill and Neil Lennon.
Rodgers left Celtic in February 2019 in acrimonious circumstances. Having led the Celts to seven trophies in a row, as well as a 69-game unbeaten run, Rodgers returned to England and Leicester City. Time is a great healer and for many, they harbour no ill-will towards the ex-Liverpool manager given the success currently enjoyed under Ange.
