Atletico Madrid striker, Antoine Greizmann has sent out an early warning to Celtic ahead of their clash in the Champions League tomorrow.
Atletico Madrid travelled to Glasgow in very high spirits intent on taking the three points. They are currently on a six-game winning streak, overcoming our fellow Group E rivals, Feyenoord, as well as their local rivals Real Madrid. Antoine Greizmann, now 32 years old, also feels he is in good form, which may worryingly be true as he scored a hat-trick on the weekend against Celta Vigo, securing their sixth victory in a row.
With the clash against Celtic the focus of Diego Simeone’s mind, he offered to rest Greizmann to ensure he is fit to play in Glasgow, but the French hero feels he is on a scoring streak and insisted on playing, to which he later put three goals in the back of the net. Brimming with confidence and on a scoring streak, Greizmann hopes to continue by scoring in Celtic Park. As reported by the Daily Record, Greizmann said…
“The coach talked about resting me last weekend with a big Champions League game against Celtic, but of course, I wanted to play and the performance I hope shows that the coach made the right decision.”
“The most important thing for a striker is to score goals. When you are scoring it gives you the confidence that you are going to keep scoring. I feel like I am in some of the best form of my career. I feel like I can go to Glasgow and score goals.”
“It is always nice to score, but goals on the big occasions in the big stadiums are extra special. It is my dream to win the Champions League. It has always been my dream. And we are capable of that. We have a coach who always makes it clear to us not to look beyond the next game, so that is what we do. We want to go and win in Glasgow and then it is back to La Liga.”
Greizmann is undoubtedly a player of high calibre and will obviously be a threat against any team in the Champions League. With the current goal-scoring form he is showing, Celtic’s back four may have their hands full keeping him out.
