Atletico Madrid’s Griezmann fires Champions League warning to Celtic

Celtic have been fired a warning by Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann after the Frenchman scored a hat-trick against Celta Vigo. After impressing for France against Scotland during the week, the ex-Barcelona man turned on the style in La Liga as Diego Simeone’s team prepared for their trip to Celtic Park.

Former Celt Carl Starfelt was helpless as Atletico won 3-0 away to Celta Vigo with the 32-year-old winning the MOTM accolade.

Griezmann is just eight goals away from becoming Atletico’s all time leading scorer and has been excellent this season.

Celtic must win in their Matchday Three meeting with the Spaniards. However, they will first have to make the trip along the M8 to face Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Spanish team are top of the group with four points from their opening two games; Celtic, meanwhile, have nothing to show for their opening two games. Brendan Rodgers has shown that he can adapt his teams to meet the demands of European football but needs results to follow performances, though this may be a tall order.
