Tim Cahill is arguably one of Australia’s greatest ever footballers. The ex-Everton midfielder made over 100 appearances for the Socceroos, scoring 50 times. Yesterday, with the news that Ange Postecoglou had been announced as the manager of Celtic, Cahill tweeted his support for his former manager.

Cahill was one of a number of Australians that were gunning for Ange to get a top job in Europe after his successes with Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory and Yokohama F Marinos as well as the Australian National Team. Now, Cahill will be supporting the Hoops as his former manager looks set to battle his way towards the league title again after Celtic’s implosion allowed Rangers to collect the Premiership trophy.

Postecoglou will need to hit the ground running in the effort to qualify for the Champions League as well as assembling a team capable of blowing Gerrard’s Rangers out of the water. Postecoglou will likely have targets that he and the club wish to pursue and that is something that should be done immediately as not to miss out on potential targets.
