Away Tickets – “It all stopped when we kept winning,” Scott Brown

Broony telling it how it is, and it seems to have upset all the right folk…

Scott Brown is still continuing to get under the skin of theRangers supporters. He may well have left Celtic nearly three years ago, but he still remains deeply imbedded in their minds, thoughts and nightmares.

Even at Aberdeen he continued to taunt them, and now even after hanging up his boots he still continues to do so. Yesterday Broony told the media what we all already knew. Yes he said that it’s a shame that away supporters remain locked out of the Glasgow Derby. Broony further angered them by pointing out that the blame remains firmly at the feet of the latest Ibrox club and their supporters.

Broony said “I think it all stopped when we kept winning. I think that’s why it stopped.”

Those words cut through the media and theRangers supporters very deep indeed. It was wonderful, and all one hundred percent factual.

Broony opened those wounds even deeper when he said the gap is still as big as ever between the clubs and Celtic are the much better side. Ouch that must have been a sore one for the media and the Bears to take. The truth does hurt after all.

There are still two Glasgow Derbies remaining in the Scottish Premiership this season, with the next one at Ibrox and the fourth match at Celtic Park after the split. Ahead of the first Derby of the season at Ibrox, Celtic sent back the 750 tickets that theRangers supplied for that dangerous corner – where there has been seven serious injuries to Celtic supporters in previous matches with bottles, glasses and other objects being thrown into the away support by theRangers supporters.

Even their club admitted that it was unsafe ahead of the game in September and promised to install nets to help with safety concerns. That never happened so Celtic quite rightly returned their tickets then refused to allow them an allocation for Celtic Park on 30 December. Celtic won both matches.

Going forward the ball is in theRangers court as they host the next match. Celtic though will NOT accept tickets for that corner unless our club are satisfied with the safety measures that need to be put in place. That’s unlikely to happen and it’s looking like two more games with home fans only.

Incidentally it’s worth mentioning that the Celtic support fully backed the club in rejecting tickets while their fans were squealing for tickets for Celtic Park on 30 December. And before their meltdown gained momentum, there was civil war brewing on their forums with infighting, blaming those on FF causing the current situation by campaigning to reduce the away allocation for exactly the reasons Scott Brown pointed out yesterday (ie exactly what happened).

If they can believe that they are the same club then I suppose that they can blame Celtic for causing the away ticket allocation mess despite them all, deep down, knowing the truth. It must hurt badly.

I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
