Bayern Munich legend Bastian Schweinsteiger has praised Celtic Park’s atmosphere in a Twitter Q&A. The World Cup winner with Germany enjoyed an impressive career with Bayern, winning 8 League titles and 1 Champions League title in 500 appearances for the club.

Schweinsteiger said that Celtic’s atmosphere was impressive but what is incredible is that the German made 95 Champions League appearances in his career. Celtic’s supporters have been lauded by some of the best players and coaches in the world for their incredible support. Now, the ex-Man Utd man joins that list of players.

Schweinsteiger made his breakthrough in 2002 and it was the following year that the midfielder was in attendance at Celtic Park, taking his place on the bench as Celtic drew 0-0. The Celtic team that night was quite impressive: Larsson, Sutton, Petrov, Thompson, Agathe to mention a few. Although, Martin O’Neill’s side dominated they couldn’t find a breakthrough and Bayern celebrated at full-time as if they had won the game.

Schweinsteiger retired with Chicago Heat in 2019 after an incredible career. He will likely be watching Munich play Barca tonight while Celtic kick-off their Europa League campaign on Thursday against Real Betis.
