BBC reporter Kheredine Idessane has confirmed that the January Review is currently ‘ongoing’ after Neil Lennon’s media conference today. The Celtic manager came out fighting after exiting isolation following the club’s ill-fated trip to Dubai.

Celtic fans were promised a review after a poor run of results. Six wins in twenty games. That is where Celtic currently find themselves. Out of Europe, out of the League Cup and seemingly out of the title race.

The manager came out fighting in a fiery press conference that is yet to emerge in its entirety. The former Hibs and Bolton manager, who is in his second spell, has been criticised this season as turgid results have Celtic 21 point behind Rangers. Albeit with three games in hand.

Despite it being leaked that Lennon was apparently to remain in his job until the summer, it looks inevitable that the club legend will lose his job after what has been an abysmal season. The person that needs to accept liability is Peter Lawwell for persisting with Lennon even though the season ebbs towards a disappointing conclusion.

Lennon has achieved an incredible amount with Celtic and that will always be there for all to see. However, this season has been poor and there needs to be accountability at boardroom level for the appointment of Lennon and the persistence with him in charge.
