Celtic finally confirmed the signing of Carl Starfelt yesterday after weeks of speculation from reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano and various other reliable sources.
Starfelt, 26, signed a four-year deal yesterday after joining for a fee of €5million from Russian outfit Rubin Kazan; where he was noted to be one of the best defenders in the Russian Premier Division last season, thus prompting the attention of Dom McKay and the recruitment team.
His arrival came within an hour of Kristoffer Ajer joining English side Brentford for a fee of £13.5million, which could potentially rise to £18million with add-ons. And, although Ajer will be missed at the heart of the Celtic defence, his sale has allowed Celtic to bring in Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi and Carl Starfelt for around £12.5million – leaving some money in the tank to bring in further recruitments.
However, it appears Celtic will no longer be needed recruitments given how highly-rated Starfelt is by the Celtic support already.
Congrats Celtic! Best defender in the league

It is genuine meltdown from Rangers fans tonight between Ajer’s fee and Starfelt signing.
I have missed these days.

Starfelt was hilariously announced just half an hour after Ajer’s departure with an insanely cryptic message – making a play on words from David Bowie’s 1972 hit, Starman – and Celtic fans are hoping to replicate the club’s video announcement with chants and tannoy announcements galore once Starfelt gets himself on the scoresheet at Paradise.
There’s a starman waiting in the sky… ✨ pic.twitter.com/jNu4Hn90rk

If we don’t play starman every time Starfelt scores at Celtic park now then I’m gonna be severely disappointed @CelticFC

Who will defend us from another goal?
Starfelt.

It even appears that Celtic fans are counting on him to become a goalkeeper after Vasilis Barkas’s error-prone spell in Glasgow – and although he is a rock-solid centre-back, that might be taking the biscuit…
Can big starfelt play in goals anaw??

Any meltdown from Sevco is utterly irrelevant, just like their new club. They no longer count and gave up their seat at the table in 2012 along with their transferable history. With 1 title to their name it will be decades before they even achieve mediocrity. It’s over for them, and they know it as well as we do.
So Vukovic is a Celtic supporter . Good to know the more the merrier. 😉
