Celtic will not be signing Lawrence Shankland. The Scottish Champions are in the market for two strikers but the Scotland Internationalist will not become of them.

Brendan Rodgers has praised Shankland’s attributes when scouting him ahead of clashes against the Gorgie outfit but flatly rejected that he was watching for any other reason than gathering intelligence.

A report from HITC claimed that Celtic were considering the 28-year-old as they struggle to seal a deal to sign Adam Idah from Norwich City. The Irishman is keen on a return but so far, Celtic’s only offer was rejected.

The report says that Celtic want to step up their interest in the longstanding Rangers target in a Scott Allan-esque swoop. However, Brendan is unlikely to be remotely interested in adding a player that fails to fit his bill.

Looking back further, it appears that the source has a history of linking Celtic with Shankland. HITC reported in January that Celtic were looking at bringing Shankland to the club but it appears that they’re once again revisiting this well to create content.
