Bosun Lawal has the ability to make a mark on this Celtic side

Bosun Lawal has the ability to make a mark on this Celtic side, but perhaps only in his preferred position of centre midfield…

Bosun Lawal has been tipped by many to challenge for a place in the Celtic first team. The Irish youngster made quite the impression during a loan spell at Fleetwood Town last season and has multiple sides south of the border interested in signing him from Celtic this summer.

And he has now been called up to the full Irish international squad from the U21s, a fitting reward for the hard work and dedication he’s put in this past year.

Bosun will join Brendan Rodgers and the first team when it’s time to report back for training in a few weeks time so that the manager can see for himself just how good a player Bosun has become.

The question is, will the youngster show that he’s got what it takes to be a regular part of Brendan’s first team as we head into season 24/25?

I think he can indeed make an impact in his objective to impress Brendan and play a part in his squad for next season, but only if he gets to showcase his ability in his natural position which is of course in the centre of the park.

Bosun has been played mainly as a defender in his time at the club. Whether that’s been in the B side or the rare first team appearances he’s made, and although he’s done reasonably well, it’s clear to see that he does his best work in the middle of the park as was notable during his loan spell at Fleetwood.

So for Bosun to make his mark on this Celtic side, he has got to be played in his natural position. Let’s hope he gets to do just that. And if there’s a manager who can take his game to the next level, then that’s likely to be Brendan Rodgers.

I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

Lawal has it all. Perhaps another loan to a higher level, but we can’t lose him.
