Breaking News – Celtic supporters banned from Ibrox for Women’s game tomorrow

Just over 700 Celtic supporters who have purchased tickets for the SWPL1 Women’s match at Ibrox tomorrow afternoon will today be told that theRangers have CANCELLED their tickets for game at the shortest of notice.

Celtic have been contacted about the latest Ibrox club’s ‘concerns’ surrounding around 35 of the Celtic support who have purchased tickets for the match via the official Celtic website who theRangers fall into the Ultras category.  They asked Celtic to provide payment for a massive uplift in security costs which as the away club Celtic rejected.

There have been three Women’s Glasgow Derby meetings this season across three different competitions – the Glasgow Cup at the start of the season, a SWPL1 league match and moist recently the Sky Sports Cup semi final. All three matches were played at Celtic’s ‘home’ ground at the Excelsior stadium in Airdrie and for the games Celtic in good faith supplied theRangers support with tickets, with both sets of supporters attending and occupying the main stand at Airdrie without any bother whatsoever.

The Celtic Star noted after the recent cup tie that theRangers support was allowed to place their banners in the empty stand behind the goal at theRangers end of the stadium and we noted that Celtic supporters would be unlikely to received similar access when we play them away from home.

Now tomorrow Elena Sadiku will be taking her team to Ibrox and instead of having the backing of a fair number of Celtic supporters, with the club expecting to sell around 1000 tickets, there will now be NO CELTIC SUPPORT at the game.

The integrity of the SWPL1 competition is tarnished by theRangers and Celtic FC should today in our view ask for a postponement of this fixture to allow the SWPL1 and the SPFL to intervene.  Is it the case that Celtic have outsold theRangers tomorrow?  How embarrassing would that have been for the latest Ibrox club?

If Celtic win tomorrow we narrow the gap at the top of the SWPL1 to just one point and Sadiku’s side, significantly strengthened by the return of players from injury and the arrival of Tash Flint, fancy their chances. Now though theRangers have moved the goalposts and banned every Celtic supporter from the game.

This is an absolute disgrace.  There has been absolutely no trouble at any of the Glasgow Derby games – other than theRangers’ own coach assaulting former Celtic manager Fran Alonso in a cowardly attack from behind. He didn’t lose his job incidentally, nor was he charged by the Police despite the attack being shown on Sky Sports.

So over to you Celtic, without our support at the game, this match should not proceed.

    • Absolute clown. The photos are of the most recent game between Celtic FC Women and theRangers in the Sky Sports Cup at Airdrie. The Celtic Star deserves better than your drivel mate, so do one.
