Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’ final season in charge of Leicester City is the subject of a Premier League probe into club finances, relating to Profit and Sustainability rules.
Sky Sports News reports that the Championship leaders are facing a points deduction, if they are promoted to the top flight.
Rodgers was clear at the beginning of last season that he was unable to strengthen the squad sufficiently, which ultimately led to their relegation. By that point, of course, Rodgers and Leicester had parted ways and Dean Smith was in charge.
The Premier League are cutting down on teams that spend through wealthy owners. Leicester knew that the PL were on their tales after successes in Rodgers’ first three seasons. The relegation was surprising but nevertheless, it showed that Rodgers was correct in needing the squad strengthened.
