Brendan Rodgers gives coy update on marquee Premier League signings

Brendan Rodgers has given a very tight-lipped response in a press conference yesterday over building speculation that Celtic have opened links with two Premier League sides for potential signings.

Recent reports have claimed that Celtic may have possible links with Wolves’ Danie Podence and Newcastle United’s Ryan Fraser. With the loss of Jota out on the wing, Celtic have identified an area on the pitch that could do with some reinforcement.

With this in mind, rumours of Celtic’s interest have grown for the Newcastle winger Ryan Fraser, who is currently out of the Newcastle squad due to a clash with the manager Eddie Howe.

More recently, rumours have hinted that Wolves player, Danie Podence may be in line for a potential move to Paradise. Podence’s contract is set to expire next summer, so Celtic may attempt to negotiate the £12 million price tag demanded by Wolves.

When asked about any updates on these signings, this is all Rodgers had to say…

“No, none at all.”

A £12 million price tag does seem a little steep for the Hoops. However, if the Bhoys are able to negotiate this price tag down a little, we could very well see Podence in a Celtic jersey very soon.
