Brendan Rodgers impressive first interview as returning Celtic manager

Having watched Brendan’s first interview since his return to Celtic, I admittedly have fallen for that famous charm once more, and while I still harbour a tiny grudge towards him for leaving us last time out, I have bought into his vision once more, as I suspect many supporters have.

He looked as if he was never away during the carefully stage managed ten minute sit down with Gerry McCulloch on Celtic TV. All the old charm and sophistication was still evident, and he made us sit and take notice of his plans for the club, despite any hostility towards him even the most critical of supporter would have been impressed. He was probably a little nervous, less sure of himself and that’s undoubtedly to do with the events of February 2019 which should get put to bed once and for all at today’s various media conferences. The Celtic fan media conference kicks off at 4pm.

Any ill feeling I had towards him since it was announced he was returning have since subsided a little, and after closely watching his first interview those feelings have evaporated a bit more.

He spoke thoroughly about his plans and ambitions going forward and it was also a surprise to hear that Callum McGregor had a sit down with him during his negotiations with the club. He clearly has done his research on what position the club is currently in and that bodes well for the future.

It was bit strange having Brendan back at first and it didn’t seem real, but here he is, and after watching his first interview it has sunk in. He may have left with a cloud hanging over him, but now he’s returned and those clouds are slowly  but surely clearing and after his side wins at Ibrox they’ll be gone completely and all will be forgiven!

It’s now time for him to get back to work and his job is to keep Celtic as successful as we’ve been used to this past decade, with the exception of the covid year. But after listening to Brendan talk I’m won over and convinced he can do just that and more. We have a lot to look forward to.

Here’s the interview on Celtic TV which has had 57k views so far on the club’s You Tube channel.
