Brendan Rodgers latest as ex-Celtic manager due £10m if Leicester axe Irishman

Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be due a £10m pay-off if Leicester City are to sack their boss. After the 6-2 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, Leicester sit bottom with six defeats in a row and there has been increasing pressure on the club to part ways with the Irishman.

According to The Sun, Leicester are weighing up whether to buy Rodgers out of his contract with the eyewatering fee remaining. They are already considering another few candidates; however, there is speculation whether Leicester can afford to sack Rodgers after posting £120m losses.

Rodgers was at the Celtic helm for two and a half years. The ex-Liverpool manager won seven trophies in a row, an Invincible Treble, a 69-game unbeaten run and numerous other successes before being replaced by Neil Lennon when he left for Leicester in February 2019.

Leicester are already considering Thomas Frank, Sean Dyche and Rafa Benitez as they ponder whether or not to sack Rodgers. After the summer, Leicester lost a number of key players that were not replaced. The Leicester Chairman said that they needed to be more fiscally responsible. Although, their supporters appear less than impressed at performances on the pitch as Rodgers bemoaned the lack of investment.

Rodgers appears to be waiting for his payout. He has already put out the reasons for the club’s current failures on the park, the lack of funding while other teams have invested. Rodgers had enjoyed success with Leicester, finishing fifth twice and winning an FA Cup; however, he will likely be unable to match the intensity of the Celtic job wherever he goes.

  1. Brendan Rodgers has shown himself to be an utter parasite and he cares about nobody except himself.
Poor Leicester did Celtic a big favour by taking him from us. He would have squandered millions with us and left us in the same position as Leicester find themselves now. There is no real substance to this person. All you see is pure fake.
