Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has broken his silence following his exit from Leicester City. The Irishman had been in charge for four years following his moonlight flit from Glasgow in February 2019 but left by mutual consent after The Foxes fell to a defeat against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Speaking through the LMA, Rodgers extended his thanks to the Leicester hierarchy, players, staff and fans.
Rodgers will likely be back in the game in due course as he looks to put this season behind him. The Spanish-speaker could perhaps look abroad as he considers his next move, having previously mentioned International management.
Leicester’s season began, much like the 2018-19 season, with Rodgers complaining about transfer inactivity. Rodgers wanted to capitalise upon his successes with The Foxes but budget constraints were apparent.

Rodgers was at the Celtic helm for two and a half years. The ex-Liverpool manager won seven trophies in a row, an Invincible Treble, a 69-game unbeaten run and numerous other successes before being replaced by Neil Lennon when he left for Leicester in February 2019. Supporters will likely recognise how impressive Rodgers’ time at the club was Many people realised that there were issues at a boardroom level that led to his departure, which was emphasised by the off-field mess of the 2020/21 season.
The manager has proven his worth as a coach but he also has a petulant side. There are patterns between his exit from Liverpool, Celtic and his current period with Leicester. Rodgers had enjoyed success with Leicester, finishing fifth twice and winning an FA Cup; however, he will likely be unable to match the intensity of the Celtic job wherever he goes.
It will be interesting to see whether someone like Spurs make a move for Rodgers now that he is unattached. Rodgers will almost certainly be back in the English game, likely very soon.
