Brendan Rodgers set to become highest paid Celtic manager

Brendan Rodgers looks set to be announced as the new manager of Celtic. Over four years after his departure for Leicester City, the Irishman is closing in on a sensational return to Paradise.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rodgers will become the club’s highest paid manager ever, breaking the record that he held from his previous stint.

Rodgers was on circa £2m plus performance-related bonuses. Now, the salary is said to have increased.

Dermot Desmond persuaded Rodgers that now was the time to return to Celtic. Following the Treble success of the 2022/23 season, Celtic have boasted impressive financial results as well as sealing a place in the Champions League Group Stages. One of Rodgers’ gripes last time was the delay in business being done with European qualifiers, now, he will be able to enjoy a full, pre-season and hopefully reap the rewards.

In a wildly successful two and a half years, Rodgers won seven out of seven, leaving with a strong lead in Premiership and a Quarter Finals place in the Scottish Cup. His departure had an adverse reaction on the Celtic support, who couldn’t believe he would walk away. It was clear that there was some discord between Rodgers and then-CEO Peter Lawwell. Although, conversations with new-CEO Michael Nicholson, CFO Chris McKay and Desmond appear to have aligned their visions towards continued domestic dominance and strides in European competition.

  1. Yeah reward the guy for jumping from a ship he sank in the middle of the season.
Ally mcCoist and Souness not in with a shout? Rodgers is in the same class of scum as them.
If he is appointed it will br the lowest point in this clubs history.
Just sell the club Desmond, you are beneath contempt.

  2. What’s that? You ran out on us the last time you were here? Never mind that, here, take all this money. Anything for one of Desmond’s mates, and probably the only manager he knows anything about. Give up the dictatorship Desmond and do us favour..See you another 2or 3 years.
