It has been reported that Brendan Rodgers is to be given a bumper transfer kitty to start his Celtic revolution and help achieve his objectives for the club over the next three seasons.

Depending who you listen to it’s a major war chest, some reports saying £30 million while others quote £35 million. Whatever the sum may be, it’s sure to be substantial as he wouldn’t have came back to the club if he wasn’t promised such riches.

Last time around Brendan wasn’t exactly restrained in spending cash, £9 million spent on Odsonne Edouard, £4.5 million on Oliver Ntcham and £3.5 million on Scotty Sinclair testifies to that, but on occasion he was limited to how he spent his budget.

Low budget signings like Jack Hendry and Youssouf Mulumbu weren’t exactly overwhelming and a million miles away from preferred targets such as Timothy Castagne, and John McGinn. This reluctance to spend on quality led to Brendan seeking pastures new down south, this time around appears to be different.

In my opinion we need around five new faces and first team ready ones at that. A goalkeeper, a right back, centre back, holding midfielder and centre forward are required.

I’d expect our transfer record to be shattered on one or maybe two new faces, any player coming in need to be quality additions. Let’s hope Brendan gets the right players in place. We already have a superb squad and more quality added to it will make us a force to be reckoned with.

If the manager gets it right and we hang on to our best players we are in for an exciting season ahead.
