Time is ticking, we need to act and improve the squad. Failure to do so is an insult to the Celtic supporters and a betrayal of our elite manager Brendan Rodgers…
The new league campaign kicks off a week on Sunday. The transfer window has now been open for 40 days and so far our only additions have been goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo.
Considering we are now minus the presence of the retiring Joe Hart, the outgoing Ben Siegrist, Oh and Sead Hakšabanović we are now very much weaker than we were last campaign.
Add to that list on loan Adam Idah who returned to Norwich with a quick fire return looking increasingly unlikely, and the confusion surrounding the permanent signing of fellow loanee Paulo Bernardo then we are a pale shadow of the side who finished last season as double winners.
A side who don’t forget struggled for a majority of the campaign due to being seriously devoid of the ‘quality’ required by Brendan Rodgers.
We will also most likely lose Matt O’Riley with multiple bids being made for his services. With it only being a matter of time before the club’s financial demands are reached and then he too will be away making our squad all that more weaker.
With the guaranteed income of Champions League money, the season ticket money already banked and a huge fee incoming for Matt O’Riley, then it’s actually quite incredible that we have failed to improve our squad for the challenges of the new season.
Not only is it a blow to Brendan Rodgers who deserves the backing of his bosses, it’s an insult to us supporters who have poured our hard earned money into the club with another new kit being released for sale only yesterday.

It’s time for those in charge to act, or not only will they face the consequences on the field, they will face the wrath of the supporters off it. With every passing day the sorrowful summer being endured by theRangers appears to be a factor that is actually no joke for the Celtic supporters who were told at the start of February how difficult a window it was to do business but they’d get it right in the summer.
Time is ticking…next up is Manchester City in our three match tour of the United States and while they are further being Celtic in their pre-season preparations, it will nevertheless show some kind of indication of where we are at as a team with the new look Champions League format not too far away.
Here’s a reminder of that banner from early February up at Pittodrie just after the winter window closed.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
Aye. That banner really worked last time.
Let’s go through the process that Rodgers is currently undertaking first, within the USA tour?
We currently have only 5 homegrown players out of the 8 required, that we can be fairly certain about for our 25man CL squad?
We needed another LB, so should Rodgers be dismissing Anderson, before even giving him an opportunity?
Same applies to Dane Murray, as a left sided CB?
Not forgetting lawal as a potential defensive midfielder in the making, that allows calmac to be pushed in the more advanced attacking role?
We could of course, stick with the options of Bain, Mccarthy and Johnston, yet still take up positions within our 25man squad?
We already have a full 25man squad under contract in place, even without Oreily including?
So we are at a stage of moving players on, who Rodgers considers won’t be within his plans for next season?
Yet would a decent manager be a decent manager if he wasn’t prepared to give opportunities to the younger players?
So by all means continue with the annual anti board agenda which is so popular at this time of year?
I will continue to support Rodgers on the process he is currently doing, especially with our younger players from within?
Will continue to support every player who wears our jersey and representing the club in a dignified manner also?
If Rodgers deems them as not good enough for his plans for next season, then so be it, especially as so many seem to believe that younger players can’t improve, and want them out of the club as quickly as possible, because they never really excepted them in the first place?
Great attitude from the best supporters in the world, is it not?
Seen very little support towards Rodgers and the process he’s currently seemingly to be taken, and this from a manager who claims how he likes working and improving younger players?
Didn’t see much of that on show last season, with so many taking so long to make the adjustments within there game?
Is that going to be in operation for the start of this season for ourselves?
As far as I’m concerned, the anti board brigade are nothing more than trouble makers questioning the process that Rodgers has taken to date imo?
Strange really when the process Rodgers has taken, doesn’t even involve the board whatsoever and the decision making Rodgers will end up taking either?
Just like the man with flat cap Fergus was hit with crap every day he was at Celtic, now looking back fans realise what he has built & applaud him. Wasn’t always like that, some fans have short memories .
Same old shite, jumping on the board before you even know the facts . Really doubt most of these click bait posts are done by Celtic fans, if they are fans. They have to be brain-dead .! It’s same old shite every time, we have the best “board” owners we have every had yet still complaining . Look at the success over last 20 years.. We want to do better in Europa but that comes second to winning the league. Spending money is not always the answer. We always wait to last min in transfer market, why should this season be any different . Just like we don’t want to sell Matt O’Riley , other clubs don’t want to sell top players, so it nearly always comes down to last min brinkmanship when transfers are involved . Change the record, one day you are going to wish you had treated the board better .
Fans with squeaky bums rushing into the void and filling it with stories of their favourite banners and how the fans will be angry if we don’t buy some random players that may or may not be better than what we currently have.
Celtic have a track record of doing business late in the window and have made some pretty poor signings but we have also made some fantastic signings and throughout the past decade or so have won domestic trophies on a consistent basis.
Should we be worried yet? Possibly but it’s a balancing act and that includes ensuring young players have a chance to reach the first team and we should not be sucked into throwing funds at sub-standard players when realistically we are unlikely to achieve anything significant in Europe anyway.
Add a bit of realism to the situation and hold your nerve.
Support the team, faithful through and through. Imagine what this negatively does to the players. We don’t need supporters that have no faith in the manager and players.
