Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig are reportedly keen on signing Celtic starlet Rocco Vata. The German club have a reputation for developing young talent and have made seismic progress into becoming one of the biggest teams in Germany in recent years.
As reported by Record Sport, Vata was watched by Leipzig’s scouts while he was on International duty with Ireland U21s. The 18-year-old impressed scoring twice and this interest will likely only increase the interest in the player.
Celtic are battling to retain the player, who they have developed from a young age. The Scottish Champions clearly rate the player enough to keep him around but believe that he is not yet at the stage where he can be commanding involvement with matchday squads.
With just under a year remaining on his deal, Vata is available for a compensation fee. Celtic could command £350k from English teams by way of cross-border compensation but that fee would increase significantly if a new deal were to be signed.
Celtic have been attempting to persuade Vata into signing a new deal; however, the move to CAA Base suggested that the youngster was weighing up his options.
