Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed that he has held talks with Robbie Brady over a new deal, just days after he was reported to be linked with a free transfer to Celtic. As reported by Lancs Live, Dyche has said that the 29-year-old is among a few players in talks with the Premier League side with a view to extending their deals with the Turf Moor outfit.
“The talks with all players are ongoing, no matter what level of contact they’ve got, other than the lads which have just literally signed.
“But as soon as they’re a little bit into their contract we always keep tabs with their agents and the players to let them know, so that one will work itself out.”
The Sun claimed last week that the Scottish Champions are keen on bringing the versatile winger to the club. With 54 caps for Ireland to his name, as well as 270 career appearances in England, Brady is a versatile winger, playing down both flanks as well as a left back – similar to Jonny Hayes. With Moi Elyounoussi and Diego Laxalt leaving in the summer, just Mikey Johnston and Greg Taylor will remain so the support of the Ireland International may be useful.
The club are preparing for a summer overhaul as Dominic McKay prepares to takeover as CEO. A number of star players are expected to leave, as is Neil Lennon after the club have suffered a woeful European campaign, a shocking League Cup exit and multiple dropped points. There will likely be a huge exodus of players in the summer. Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer, Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Christie could very well seal exits from the club as well as the raft of loanees returning to their parent clubs.
