Sean Dyche’s Burnley are said to have made enquiries about signing Celtic’s Ryan Christie, according to a report. According to the Daily Mail (via HITC), the Turf Moor side are said to be interested in signing the attacking midfielder. The 26-year-old has twelve months on his deal and he is believed to fancy a move to the Premier League.

Christie was signed from Inverness CT in 2015 with loan spells at ICT as well as Aberdeen before breaking into the Celtic first team. The failure to capture John McGinn from Hibs as well as Stuart Armstrong’s departure opened up a midfield vacancy for Christie that he seized with both hands. It is probably due to the fact that these two players have performed alongside him with Scotland that he reckons that he can hold his own in England. Crystal Palace have been linked and London is (probably) nicer to live than Burnley.

The player will likely move on this summer as Celtic look to rebuild under Ange Postecoglou. Christie wants to move and Celtic should cash in but only after testing the market to get the best price for the player. If we can get £8m for the player, it would be a phenomenal bit of business. Postecoglou has Rogic and Turnbull at his disposal so if Christie goes, he will be covered. With seven goals and fifteen assists, Christie was certainly there unlike others but he became a source of frustration for long-range shooting.
