So as reported earlier on The Celtic Star earlier today , Albian Ajeti is on the brink of sealing a move to Turkish side Gaziantep after a torrid three year spell in Glasgow.

Ajeti was signed by Neil Lennon from West Ham for a sum of around £5million. The fee we are reportedly receiving for him is ten times less than what we paid so that sums up what a disappointing signing he was. To make it more depressing, we apparently cooled interest in bringing Ivan Toney to the club in order to sign him.

Big things were expected from Albian despite a less than flattering time in East London. He was a Swiss international and had experience of playing and scoring in the Champions league. Tellingly though West Ham manager would not sanction a loan move with an option to buy and insisted on a straight transfer deal. Truth be told Moyes was desperate to get Ajeti out the door, a position that Brendan Rodgers understands only too well at the moment.

In the end Albian Ajeti is merely another flop signing by Celtic. He Scored just nine goals in 47 appearances for Celtic, and then fared just as badly during a loan spell in Austria with Sturm Graz, who were not interested in taking him off Celtic’s hands when that loan move came to an end.

Ajeti contributed next to nothing and between his transfer fee and wages was a very expensive mistake, alongside ‘eye for a player’ Neil Lennon’s other flop signings Vasilis Barkas and Ismaila Soro. That’s around £12million in losses right there on those three.

Barkas is already gone and Soro and Ajeti now looking like joining him, their salaries can put to much better use.
