Cameron Carter-Vickers defiant despite Livingston draw

Cameron Carter-Vickers insists Celtic are on the right track despite dropping points against Livingston on Saturday afternoon. Celtic had the opportunity to overtake theRangers in first place to put pressure on them ahead of their Fir Park trip on Sunday. Unfortunately a stalemate took place, with David Martindale’s side unwilling to leave their own half for the entire game.

The draw and subsequent victory of our rivals on Sunday means we are once again four points adrift of the summit. However, Carter-Vickers insists that their is strong belief in the current crop of Celtic players that Ange Postecoglou can lead them to success this season.

“The way we play is the way we believe will bring us the most success and the players are all right behind that” the Celtic defender stated, as reported by Daily Record. “That’s what we want to do, that’s what we try to do and that’s what we’ll keep doing. It was a chance to go top of the league and that’s obviously where we want to be, but it’s only the end of October and leagues aren’t won at this time of the season.”

“There’s plenty of time and I believe if we stick to our principles we’ll get there. “I’m feeling good, I’m enjoying it here. It’s all about keep on improving, keeping doing what the manager wants us to do.”

Cameron is right on the money, league titles aren’t handed out in October, regardless of what the mainstream media say to the contrary. Celtic have found form away from home after impressive displays in recent weeks. The home match against Livi was a missed opportunity, but there will be more this season.

Our rivals have proved inconsistent, whilst not havign the luxury of empty stadiums – especially at home where the crowd can get to them. On top of this is the fact we are still in the midst of one of the most significant rebuilds of modern times at Paradise. There is plenty of football still to be played before anything is handed out.

If Ange and the players have faith in what they are doing, then so must we. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and so it is proving with our results this year. We must continue to believe in the team and offer unwavering support through the tough matches that lie ahead.

If we do this, we might just be in with a shout of winning back that trophy we dominated for nearly a decade.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
