Carl Starfelt could make his debut against Hearts at the weekend. The central defender is in quarantine at the moment having completed his £4.2m move from Rubin Kazan to Celtic last week. The 26-year-old Swedish defender replaces Kris Ajer in the Celtic defence with the Norwegian moving to Brentford but given Celtic’s defensive woes, the supporters are eagerly looking forward to the defender making his debut.

Alison Conroy, Sports Editor of Radio Clyde, took to Twitter to update the support about when to expect Starfelt to begin training.

With the Swede training on Thursday and Friday, there is a chance that he will be available for the weekend’s trip to Tynecastle. Given that the game is in the evening, the manager and his staff will actually have more time to assess whether he is fit to play or not.

Celtic will likely be looking to sign a number of players in key positions but so far, the delay has been painful for the supporters. Aurelio Buta has been touted as a right-back candidate with a €3.5m move expected to progress in the coming days. Ange Postecoglou is said to want a holding midfielder, another CB, a RB and a winger before the window closes but he may also need to look at another goalie and a striker if Odsonne Edouard moves on.
