STEVEN GERRARD is still waiting for an away with in the Scottish Premiership after his much hyped Rangers side lost 1-0 to the Seven in a Row Champions at  Celtic Park today.

Gerrard‘s much hyped side has taken just 2 points from 9 on the road and are now trailing leaders Hearts by 7 points and Celtic by 4.

There was only one team in it today as Celtic battered the Rangers goal all afternoon, with the woodwork coming to Gerrard’s rescue on 4 occasions.

And his luck seemed to be in with these near misses and the fact that Willie Collum and his Assistant completely missed the Rangers thuggish goalkeeper who for the second week in a row stamped on an opponent. This time it was the Norwegian 20 year old Kristoffer Ajer. Presumably the Compliance Offer will be checking this tomorrow although we all know that MacGregor appears to be above the law.

MacGregor made a decent save from an Edouard header as Celtic pressed hard for the opener.

Somehow Gerrard got to the interval without conceding but his luck could not hold and given they offered nothing as an attacking threat all afternoon it was ironic that Celtic hit them on the counter attack to devastating effect. It was Rodgers using the one tactic that his former Captain was relying on but the Celtic players should him how it’s done.

Rogic, Edouard and Forrest were superb before an inch perfect pass across their goal by the Prestwick Pele found Oliver Ntcham and the desperate dive from the villain in their goal was futile.

Celtic Park erupted in celebration.

Griffiths, the impressive Christie and Sinclair were all introduced – the latter in the four minutes of stoppage time that Collum added.

Sinclair’s song was sung by the entire stadium and what a boost that must give him.

Christie could have won a penalty but the referee reckoned it was just outside. Griffiths’ first touch was a corner which Ajer headed inches wide.

Craig Gordon made one routine save from Morales as his record of never scoring against Celtic continues.

The crush before the game was a real concern and needs to be addressed before they come again with their tiny support.

At the final whistle the players acknowledged the support and walked around from the Celtic dugout to the Jock Stein stand, down past the North stand towards the standing section, past the Lisbon Lions stand towards the away support….

Celtic played Beautiful Sunday – humbly the name given to the games in 2018 against them and every single one has been a Beautiful Sunday – by this very site – our Beautiful  Sunday t-shirts are still available from the Celtic Star Bookstore incidentally!

By this time Just Can’t Get Enough was playing and Broony led, Calmac, KT and Jamesy in a beautiful wee dance right in front of today’s guests. They went absolutely berserk.

It really was another Beautiful Sunday, but someone’s gonna have to cheer up Stevie G…
