Still lots to work on, but three points is the most important thing…
I noted yesterday that Livingston would be tough to overcome, and so it proved. We started the game in a terrific manner and made more chances in the opening twenty minutes than we did against Hearts the week before.
But we just couldn’t find that all important goal, and as time ticked on it looked ominous. When we went in level at the break I must admit I feared the worst.
Livingston looked like they were gaining confidence and their game plan was working. They arrived at Celtic Park looking to hold on for a point and the job was half done at the interval.
We needed a quick fire goal just after the break and thankfully we got it through Kyogo. The Japanese striker scored an instinctive finish and not only was it a vital goal for the team, but Kyogo himself. He’s been out of sorts lately and that goal will have instilled him with much needed confidence.
Liam Scales added another just a few minutes later and that was the job done. We could have added a few more, but three points was the most important thing.
There is still lots to improve on, but getting a win amidst horrible playing conditions against a side who spent the entire game with ten men behind the ball is satisfactory and it may well be one of the wins we look back on come May that were crucial in winning the league.
