Celtic have agreed a deal to sign Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny ahead of the January deadline. The 23-year-old appears to have no place in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans with the Goodison Park side and the Telegraph are reporting that a move to Scotland is being considered. Now The Sun are saying that a deal has been agreed with Kenny likely to be in the squad to face Kilmarnock on Tuesday night.

It is unclear whether this is a loan deal or a permanent deal with the latter being unlikely given the likely managerial change that is pending a January Review announcement. However, Kenny proved himself to be an impressive player in the Bundesliga having spent a loan spell there last season but has struggled to really push on with Everton, having made 48 appearances.

The right-back slot is one in which Celtic are desperately needing cover with Jeremie Frimpong leaving for Bayer Leverkusen. Kenny is an exciting prospect should Celtic sign him. However, they faced competition from Burnley to bring the player. The Clarets were quoted £8m when they inquired about the former England U21 earlier in the window but that fee may have dropped as Everton look to get the player off the books.

Hopefully the deal will include an option to buy and if the player impresses he can be rewarded with a permanent deal.
