Celtic announce pre-season fixture ahead of trip to USA

Celtic have announced another pre-season friendly, this time against Queen’s Park at The city Stadium (lesser Hampden) on Wednesday 10 July.

This follows on from the trip down to Ayrshire on Friday 5th July to take on Scott Brown’s Ayr United to celebrate the opening of the new stand at Somerset Park.

There’s still no word from Celtic if there will be a trip to England to be included in the pre-season match schedule in July, ahead of the trip to the United States. We reported earlier this week that there’s been chatter south of the border about Celtic visiting the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest, but there’s still been no formal confirmation.

We do now know that Celtic will play Queen’s Park FC with Celtic posting this update on social media:

“Celtic’s pre-season preparations will be further enhanced by a friendly match against Queen’s Park FC at The city Stadium on Wednesday, July 10, kick off 7.45pm. Please note, the City Stadium has a capacity of around 900. As a result, there will be no public sale available to Celtic Football Club.”

Scott Brown will take on Brendan Rodgers in a pre-season friendly at Somerset Park

Celtic’s USA Tour starts on Sunday 21 July against DC United before the Hoops play Manchester City on Wednesday 24 July and Chelsea on 27 July.

For most supporters confirmation of a game in England – against Nottingham Forest of another Premier League club – would be the highlight of the pre-season. Hopefully it’s gonna happen!
