Celtic’s transfer roundabout was in full swing yesterday as 30-year-old free agent was reportedly being considered by the Scottish Champions. Sky Sports said that the ex-Charlton striker has held talks with Celtic about a move. However, it has emerged that Celtic are not interested in signing Taylor.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Neil Lennon has no interest in the ex-Falkirk and Partick Thistle nomad that scored 11 goals in 22 Championship outings last season.

There are a number of footballing and non-footballing reasons to avoid signing Taylor. The fact that in his career he has had 15 different clubs is cause enough for concerns, also that he left struggling Charlton in order to chase his own transfer is bad enough. But his politics would mean he would be quite unwelcome at the club.

Celtic will instead look to Ivan Toney, Albian Ajeti and Steven Fletcher – despite the club walking away from the negotiating table with the 33-year-old. Ajeti appears the best option both short and long term for the club as should he succeed, Neil Lennon can exercise the £5m buy-out-fee.
