Celtic B moved into 6th position in the Lowland League with an impressive win against Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood Stadium yesterday afternoon.

The match gave fans an opportunity to see the likes of Murray, Vata, Lawal and Moffat in action – all highly rated prospects. It was the latter who put the Hoops in front inside two minutes, converting Davidson’s cross from close range after the winger had embarked on a mazy run.

Having got an early lead, Tommy McIntyre’s side dominated the game and had a lot of joy in the wide areas. Despite having so much possession and delivering a lot of balls into the box, it took until the hour mark to carve out a clear cut opportunity, when Lawal’s header was well saved by the opposition keeper.

On 57 minutes, Davidson doubled Celtic’s lead, rifling his shot into the near top corner after Wylie had played him through. It was a worthy reward for Davidson, who had been in fine form.

That’s how the scores stayed as the B team took maximum points on the road, ahead of a second meeting between the sides this Saturday at the Penny Cars Stadium.

Celtic B are 14 points off Bonnyrigg Rose at the top, but with three games in hand. If they take full points from those spare fixtures, then they will move into second place, ahead of Rangers B, as things stand.
