Celtic submit £5 million bid for Trusty…
Celtic has today bid £5 million for Sheffield United centre back Auston Trusty. The 26 year old left sided defender is an international team mate of Cameron Carter-Vickers and is a player with considerable experience.
The former Philadelphia Union and Colorado Rapids player signed for Arsenal back in 2022, but struggled to make a first team breakthrough before enjoyed a decent loan spell with Birmingham City.
Trusty then signed for newly promoted Sheffield United for £5 million last summer and played 32 times for the Blades as they suffered relegation from the EPL last season.
Now Brendan Rodgers has Trusty in his sights and sees him as the man to partner CCV at the back. He certainly ticks most of the boxes. He’s tall strong and athletic, and is good on the ball. Being naturally left footed is also a big plus. And he apparently is keen on the move to Celtic with the chance to play in the Champions League.
Time will tell if Sheffield United will accept Celtic’s offer and if the player is prepared to do all he can to make the deal happen. If they are going to sell, the Championship club might prefer to do so quickly to give them the rest of the week to recruit their own signing as a replacement.
One things for sure though is that Brendan isn’t messing around as the transfer window enters its last few days, this morning Gustaf Lagerbielke was sent out on loan for the season and that was quickly followed by news that Auston Trusty is the subject of a £5m bid from the Scottish Champions.
