Celtic bid for Bogusz. Will we land him and Engels? Let’s hope so…
Sky Sports has reported tonight that Celtic have submitted a bid for LAFC polish midfielder Mateusz Bogusz.
The club have been previously credited with a serious interest in the man who has 18 goal contributions in 24 games for the MLS side, and they took that a step further earlier this evening by submitting a formal bid.
Details of that bid are so far unknown, but it’s thought that the MLS side value the Polish under 21 international in the £8 million bracket.
This move comes just hours after an unsuccessful bid for FC Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels, but the club are fully expected to back in with an improved offer so it remains highly likely that we are looking to sign both players, which is very welcome news indeed.
After the departure of Matt O’Riley, we have a big void to fill in the middle of the park, and what better way to rectify that than to bring in not just one, but two highly rated young talents.
With the club actively pursuing the two players, you can only imagine that Brendan wants both players in before the window slams shut at the end of the week.
Meanwhile it looks like Owen Beck will not be joining Celtic, with Liverpool set to loan the left-back out to Blackburn Rovers. Brendan Rodgers in the end looked elsewhere, bringing in Barcelona talent Alex Valle on a season long loan, without an option to buy. Celtic are apparently paying a loan fee of just over £1m for the left-back.
