Celtic are confident that they can sign both Reo Hatate and Liel Abada onto long term deals. The Scottish Champions signed Daizen Maeda, Kyogo and Callum McGregor up on new deals following Brendan Rodgers’ return as manager this summer. However, the club were keen to tie down the talented duo after impressing Rodgers in the early stages of the season.
A report from Record Sport states that the Scottish Champions are confident that they can get deals struck to extend the pair’s time in Glasgow.
Reo Hatate is said to have turned down the first offer but is open to continuing talks albeit after the summer transfer window closes. Likewise, discussions with Abada are ongoing. Celtic are keen to get the pair on deals beyond their current 2026 expiries whilst awarding them for their fine form since arriving at the club.
Since arriving from Kawasaki Frontale in January 2021, Hatate has gone onto make 68 appearances for the club scoring 13 goals and assisting 14 times. Abada, meanwhile, has made an astonishing 104 appearances for the club since arriving from Maccabi Petah Tikva for £3.6m. The Israeli Internationalist has scored 29 goals and assisted on 21 occasions.
The pair will likely be high exports from the club in due course and it is no surprise that the club want to maximise their value in the two hugely talented players. The Celtic manager has a reputation for developing and cultivating talent and the pair will see that his influence could result in making fairly substantial moves in the future to the English Premier League.
