Celtic have confirmed the signing of Auston Trusty.  The USA Internationalist has agreed a five-year deal with the Scottish Champions after Celtic agreed a £6m deal with Sheffield United.

The ex-Arsenal defender joined Sheffield United last season for £5m and made 37 appearances in a dismal season for The Blades. Now, he will look to compete for silverware as well as going into Europe’s best competition – the UEFA Champions League.

Trusty is known to Cameron Carter-Vickers from USMNT and will look to forge a partnership with his compatriot. The 26-year-old can play on the left side at centre back as well as covering at leftback.

Celtic have been eager to strengthen their backline this window with the left-back and left-sided central defender identified as areas that required quality reinforcements. Alex Valle joined the club earlier in the week from Barcelona in a loan deal that will see him compete with Greg Taylor. Now, Trusty will look to partner with Carter-Vickers in the central defensive pairing in front of Kasper Schmeichel.
