CELTIC have confirmed that David Turnbull has tested positive for COVID-19 following an outbreak within the Scotland U21 camp. The Scottish Champions confirmed earlier this afternoon that Turnbull had received a positive test result and will now be forced to isolate for ten days.
The Celtic Star revealed earlier today, before the news broke, that Turnbull would likely have to isolate and now the club have confirmed the news.
Stephen Welsh was away with Scotland’s U21s too but appears to be unaffected by the news. What is concerning is that Turnbull was involved in training yesterday ahead of today’s game and the fact that he was allowed to do this without having a returned negative test is concerning. Whilst the science says that outdoor transmission is low, this could have had the ability to threaten our league campaign.
Celtic survived a scare when Kris Ajer and Moi Elyounoussi were almost forced to quarantine following a return from international duty with Norway. The international break is once again proving to a needless blight on club’s COVID-19 protocols.
