Harry Kewell will be a part of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic backroom staff after the Irishman was announced earlier today. The Australian will remain at the club alongside John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan, despite forming Ange Postecoglou’s backroom staff in Glasgow’s East End.
The 44-year-old was appointed by Ange last summer and appeared to work with the attackers, focusing on improving the quality in the final third. A couple of players, such as Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada, have cited Kewell’s influence upon their form on the wings taking advice from the former Liverpool winger.

Kewell will form part of Rodgers’ staff, alongside Kennedy and Strachan. However, it appears that Ange has snubbed Kewell from his move to Spurs as both Kennedy and Strachan were touted with the move but a contractual obligation meant that Ange couldn’t poach the pair but there was no hint that Kewell would be headed for London as well.
It will be interesting to see whether Glen Driscoll rejoins the club in a Performance role. The rumour had been that Driscoll and analyst Jack Lyons would be back into fray with Rodgers at Celtic as the Irishman would look to tweak the current backroom staff to suit his needs.
It is a testament to the standard of the backroom staff that Rodgers, who usually takes his own staff with him, has elected to continue with the apparatus that is already in place at the club.
