17-year-old Mitchel Frame could join the growing list of academy players to leave Celtic with Newcastle United said to be watching the player “very closely”.
According to Scott Burns at Daily Record, “the teenager came to the Magpies’ attention after impressing for Scotland under 17s at the recent European championships”.
Other Premier League clubs are said to also be interested in the left back with Crystal Palace and Brighton both linked to the player.
Frame would become the second Celtic academy player to leave in recent weeks with Tsoanelo Letsosa rejecting a new deal to seek a move down south.
However, unlike Letsosa, Frame has two years remaining on his contract meaning it would take a comprehensive fee for Celtic to even consider selling the teenager.
Frame is regarded as an exciting prospect by Celtic and is expected to be given further opportunities for the B team in the Lowland League next season.
The left back starred for the Celtic U18 team this season who won the Scottish Youth Cup final, beating theRangers 5-4 at Hampden in a game where Frame excelled and scored.
Losing another exciting youth prospect such as Mitchel Frame would be extremely disappointing and we can only hope he is shown a pathway to the first team and decides to stay.
