Celtic loan duo Ben Summers and Matthew Anderson both score for Admira Wacker on Friday night, impressing in Austria…

Two years ago, Celtic formed a partnership with Austrian second division club Admira Wacker. This allowed Celtic B team players to play competitive first-team football that was in an environment better than the Scottish Lowland League where the current B team frequent.

Youth team prospect Tobi Oluwayemi who currently plays his football with Dunfermline on loan was the first to head to Admira Wacker back in season 22/23.

The link between the two clubs was strengthened with the acquisition of left-back Matthew Anderson who starred for the Austrians 21 times last season in all competitions. Now playing for the second season running, Anderson seems to be finding his feet at his temporary home.

Anderson now has a fellow Celtic youth teammate alongside him. Ben Summers made his first start on Friday night and scored within 16 minutes of his debut. The 20 year-old has yet to make an impact at senior football having failed to nail down a starting spot with Scottish Championship side Dunfermline last season.

Summers now has an opportunity to gain some experience and build up consistent minutes on a regular basis. There is no doubt Brendan Rodgers will be keeping an eye on both of the Celtic loan Bhoys.

A 2-0 victory away to SV Stripfing on Friday night means that Admira Wacker sit top of the Austrian second tier on 22 points after nine games. Both Rapid Wien and Sturm Graz have youth teams that play in the same division. An encouraging season awaits duo Summers and Anderson.
